It's the week of Thanksgiving, and you know what that means? Fellow Christmas lovers rejoice! Everyone has to officially stop shaming you for being in the holiday spirit "too early" (as if there were such a thing). One of may favorite parts of this time of year is receiving holiday cards from my friends and family. I love looking through the pictures, and let's be honest, getting physical mail that isn't coupons or bills is just plain fun!

Some of my favorite cards are the ones that also celebrate an occasion other than Christmas. More often than not, they include puns and fun photos from milestone events or special memories throughout the year. Below are a few ways you can use custom holiday cards to say something other than "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays".

Celebrate Your First Christmas as a Married Couple

Never in your life will you have so many gorgeous photos of yourself as right after your wedding. Collage photo holiday cards are a great way to get extra mileage out of your favorite wedding photos! Plus, this is probably the last chance you'll have to take advantage of all the wording opportunities available using "marry" and "merry".

Announce the News of Your Growing Family

I can't think of a more festive way to share the news of your soon-to-be bundle of joy than with a holiday card featuring adorable family portraits! This family gets all the points for creativity because this is actually the fourth custom holiday card we've designed together in celebration of their family's milestones.

Festively Notify Everyone of Your New Address

If you're able to get this one out a little early, I can guarantee you'll be rewarded with fun mail in the form of holiday cards from your friends and family now that they know your new address! Celebrate with a peppermint mocha, because you just saved yourself some money by not having to send separate change of address cards.

Invite Your Friends and Family to Save the Date

As I wedding stationery designer, I would be remiss if I didn't mention holiday-themed Save the Dates! If you are lucky enough to be getting married around 6 months from the holidays, you can feature your favorite engagement photos on a dual-purpose save the date holiday card.

Once you add up the cost of the printed cards, envelopes, and stamps, sending out holiday cards can be a pricey endeavor. Get the most bang for your buck by creating custom cards that do double duty! Visit the Etsy shop for holiday card inspiration, or to place a custom holiday card order.
